When developing new domestic, commercial and industrial buildings, or renovating an existing one, it’s important to ensure that you have all the necessary gas, electricity and water connections in place.
Whether you’re a self-builder in the process of building your own home or a developer planning a housing or commercial development, keep reading to find out how you can arrange individual gas, electricity and water services or all three.
In order to apply for new connections with National Energy Direct, you’ll need to provide us with all of the necessary information so we can submit an application to the Distribution Network Operators (DNOs) as soon as possible. By getting this done sooner rather than later, you can prevent any delays in the process later on.
You’ll need to provide us with:
The property or site’s full address. If you are installing utility connections for new builds then you must provide the name of the site so it can be identified prior to the registration.
A CAD/planning drawing of the property.
Which services you require: electricity, water and/or gas.
It’s also important for you to have planning permission for your development before applying for utility connections.
Once the necessary information is gathered, we will then design the electric, gas and water connection plans and produce a CAD drawing of the design for you to either approve, or suggest alterations. From this point, we will then liaise with you and the local council about the legalities of the work and when all has been settled, the design will be sent to the DNOs for approval.
When everything has been approved and finalised, we can then schedule in the work and provide you with an accurate timescale for the project.
